The cremated remains of Captain Phillip Trotter are fired from cannons and scattered over the battlefield at the conclusion of the reenactment of the Battle of Bridgeport on Sunday. Trotter was a civil war reenactor for 15 years and founded Phillip's Legion Artillary in Fulton Co. GA. According to his widow Sally Trotter, it was his last wish to have his remains scattered during a reenactment using the cannons. This cannon is a 12 lb. howitzer made in Memphis in 1862 and was used in the Battle of Shiloh. Bob Gathany photo.
