Bob Gathany / The Huntsville Times - Despite a driving rain, thunder and lightning, Huntsville's first ever New Years Eve ball drop still took place at the stroke of midnight. The Terramé Midnight Run at John Hunt Park was rained out but the hundreds of runners and attendees got to see the fireworks and lightning light up the night sky welcoming in the new year.
